Wiring shouldnot be routed throughwheel well areaswhere theymay bedamagedby tireor
roaddebris, unless appropriately protectedwith shielding.

WELDING
Whenwelding is performedanywhereon the vehicle, protect thePCMelectronicmodules from
potential damageby first disconnectingbattery cables, thendisconnecting themodule.
•
Battery cablesmust bedisconnected from the batteries and isolated fromeachother and the
vehicle.
•
Thewelder ground clampmust bepositionedas closeas possible to theareawherewelding
is tobeperformed. Paint andother protective coatingsmust be removed from theweld site
and theground site toassureproper weld results. Apply appropriate corrosionprotection to
theaffectedareas upon completion.
•
Donot useany suspensionor driveline component as aweldinggroundpoint.
•
Avoid routingwelding cables on, near, or across any electrical wiringor electronic
componentswhilewelding is inprogress.
ThePCMmodulesmust behookedupafter any othermodules andprior tohookingup the
battery cables to reduce the chance for harmful voltage spikes damaging sensitiveelectronics.
E1115
Revisions, additions, andextensions to theFord factory electrical systemand informationonall
wiringanddevices addedby the converter shouldbe noted in the converter's owner information
manual. Electrical schematics shouldbe included.

ANTI-LOCKBRAKESYSTEM (ABS) ANDREARANTI-LOCKBRAKESYSTEM (RABS)
•
Donot alter or relocate theABSControl Module.
•
Grounding for theABSModuleandValveAssemblymust remain independent fromall other
grounds. Donotmodify or reposition theABSgroundingor addany other groundwires to
theABS chassis ground.
•
TheABSVehicleSpeedSensor wiring consists of 18gauge twistedpair wires. When
replacingor extending theABSVehicleSpeedSensor circuit, theOEM specificationof 1
FULLTWISTPER INCHmust bemaintainedas originally provided. Insure that thewires to
ABSVehicleSpeedSensor are longenough toallow for suspension travel andavoid
pinchedor brokenwires.
•
Anymodifications, alterations, or additional circuitry added to theABS system, including the
ABSWarningLamp circuit, is not acceptablewithout approval fromFord'sSpecial Vehicle
Engineeringactivity.
E1117
The vehiclediagnostics connector locatedunder thedashmust remain readily accessible to
servicepersonnel.
