Donot tap (piggyback) intoeither sideof any fuse in theOEM interior fusepanel or underhood
power distributionbox, or splice intoany circuit that feeds intoeither oneof these components.
Prior toany alterations of theOEMelectrical system, thebattery's negative (ground) cables
must bedisconnectedandpositioned toprevent re-contact with thenegativepost. This
precautionwill minimize thepotential for deadbatteries andpossibledamage to vehicle
circuitry.
NOTE: When thebattery cables aredisconnected from thebattery, thePowertrainControl
Module's (PCM)memorywill be lost. Abnormal transmission shiftingmay occur until
several miles of driving in variousmodes areattained to restore themodule'smemory and
regainoptimumoperating conditions.
Modification to theOEM starting system, charging system, or wiring is not recommended.
Donotmove, alter, or add toOEMelectrical groundpoints.
Donot splice into the stop lamp circuit at the stop lamp switch. Donot interrupt the signal
from these circuits. A stop lamp signal sourcemay beobtained from:
>E-Series: The light greenwire in the six-way connector locatedunder driver's sideof the
instrument panel.
>F-Series (except F53): The light greenwire in the four-way connector located low in the
center of the instrument panel. Mating connector F2TZ-14A348-A is available through
FordService.
The completed vehicle total electrical loadmust not exceed themaximumoutput of the
alternator at normal (200° F) operating temperatures. Modifications to the vehicle charging
systemsmust bedone in suchamanner as tonot causeelectrical overloadof theOEMwiring,
overcharging/dischargingof chassis batteries, etc. TheFordBodyBuildersAdvisoryService
(seeAppendixXIII) shouldbe consultedprior to incorporatingany charging systemmodification
.

All added switches and controls shouldbe function labeledand illuminated.
If anammeter and shunt are installed, all OEM chassis loads and secondunit body loads
are tobe connected to thealternator positive sideof the shunt.
E1103
When installingbattery disconnect switches, electrical powermust bemaintained toall chassis
electrical systemswhen thedisconnect is switched "off". Only the secondunit body electrical
systemmay bedisconnected. This switchmust bewired so that both chassis batteries (if so
equipped) supply power to the startermotor and diesel engineglowplugs duringengine starting
regardless of selector switchposition.
E1104
Donotmodify theOEMwiring to thePCMmodules.
Donot splice into thePCM systems for add-ondevices.
Donot splice into the vehicle sensors for add-ondevices, i.e., abrake switch, backup
switch, neutral safety switch, and transmissionmanual lever position sensor.

E-SERIESRVANDF-SERIESWITHMODIFIEDVEHICLEWIRINGPACKAGE
This package includes fusedelectrical wiring taps locatedat the instrument panel, in theengine
compartment, behind thedriver seat, andat the rear of the frame. Illustrations, schematics, and
mating connectors (pigtails) for theseelectrical taps areprovided in thedunnage shippedwith
each vehicle. Pass-throughwire feeds provideaccess from the interior to theengine
compartment. Thiswiringharness shouldminimize splices into theOEM circuitry, but when
splices areneeded, observe theprecautions in theparagraphs that follow.
