barium-sulfateas theactive ingredient. Zinc coatingmaterials should containaminimumof 92
percent zinc. Twopart epoxy coatings arealsoeffective.
The removal or alterationof under hoodnoiseabatement components or theadditionof hood
louversmay require federal or local noiseemission recertification.
Formountingadded components, theuseofmountingpads or Butyl Sealer C9AZ-19554-Bor
equivalent between thebody and theadded components is recommended. Minimize the
corrosiveeffect ofmatingdissimilarmetals by the careful selectionofmaterials.
Runningboards shouldbedesigned toattachonly to thebody. If equipment is attached to the
body andbraced to the frame side rail, chassisNVH is transmitted through thebraces and into
thebody. Relativemovement between thebody and the framemay loosen the runningboard
attachments.
A-Pillarmounted spotlights arenot recommendedas they could lead toanoccupant injury inan
accident. If spotlights areadded, recertificationof
C/FMVSS212
and
219,Windshield
Mounting/WindshieldZone Intrusion,
is required for vehicles of 10,000 lbGVWRor less.
Polycarbonateheadlamp lenses havea film coating thatmust beprotected. Donot apply harsh
solvents or tape to them.

SECONDUNITBODY
The secondunit body shouldbedesigned tomeet KKK-A-1822 (latest revision) certified for:
Roof crush criteria (1-1/2 times the completed vehicleweight)
Cabinet pull criteria
Door latchingandpull criteria
Electrical wiring criteria
Interior flammability requirements
Seat belt pull requirements
Seat retention
Avoidmountingbodies directly to the topof the frame. Doing so restricts frame torsional flexibility,
may promotebody cracking, andprovides adirect path for chassisNVH (noise, vibration, and
harshness). Theuseof theOEM rubber body isolatorswith frame tobodymounting rails or outrigger
brackets added to the frame vertical sidewebs is recommended
AM-E1003
Never weldbody supports directly to the frame flanges.
Body attachmentmethods should remain consistent along theentire frame length.Weldingbody
structures directly to frameextensions behind the rear suspension is not recommended.
If U-bolts areused toattachbodies to the truck chassis, vertical spacersmust beusedbetween
theupper and lower frame flanges at eachU-bolt toprevent collapseof the flanges.
Vent locations for the secondunit body interiormust be located topreclude intrusionof exhaust
fumes andgases. See
