ENGINECOOLANT (ANTIFREEZE)
Installers of auxiliary heater systems shouldadhere to the following criterion:
Addor replace coolant using the same coolant as installedat theFordassembly plant.
Maintaina50/50by volume ratioof antifreeze towater. A60/40 ratioof antifreeze towater
may beused inextremely cold climates, but shouldbe returned toa50/50 ratiounder warm
weather operating conditions (under certain conditions, high concentrations of ethylene
glycol may support combustion).
Completedauxiliary heaters require verificationof total cooling system liquid capacity. If the
capacity exceeds the value listed in the
FordOwnerGuide,
a larger overflow systemmay
beneeded. Thenew total capacity shouldbe included in thebuilder’s owner informationand
shouldbe labeled ina conspicuous place in theengine compartment.
PropyleneGlycol is
NOTRECOMMENDED.
This coolantmay haveharmful effects on the
climate control heat exchangers.
IFUSED
, theproper pHbalance shall bemaintainedand
this information is tobemadeavailable to the customer at the timeof delivery.

AIRCONDITIONINGCOMPRESSOR
Installers of climate control systems shouldadhere to the following compressor criterion:
Theadditionof a compressor toa serpentinebelt drive system requires themaintenanceof
thebelt tensionandwrap requirements of each component of thebelt drive system. Correct
belt length is critical to theperformance of the self-tensioningdeviceandbelt wrap.
Refrigerant
SHUT-OFFVALVES
are
NOTRECOMMENDED
for anauxiliary air conditioning
systemas theymay allow theauxiliary refrigerant lines to trap compressor lubricant oil. The
climate control system is designed to cycleduring thedefrostmodes to supply dry air to the
defroster nozzle to increasedefroster efficiency.
A4% suspended compressor oil-in-circulation ratio shouldbemaintained in theair conditioner
refrigerant system. This is a4%byweight ratio, compliant toASHRAE41.4-1984.

HEATERSYSTEM
E-Series-based incomplete vehicleswith theAuxiliaryHeater andAir Conditioner Connector
Package (Options 57J, 57Land57X) have system connections under the floor below thedriver’s
seat. Theheater supply tube shouldbe connected to the lowest port on theheater core.
Minimizeair pockets in the systemby addinganair bleedoff deviceat the system’s highpoint, or
by usinga vacuumor pressure-fill process.
E0207
COMPLETEDAIRCONDITIONINGSYSTEM
Donot operate theFordair conditioning system on vehicles equippedwith theAuxiliaryHeat and
Air ConditioningPreparationPackageprior to the completionof a fully chargedand functioning
auxiliary system. Prematureoperationmay cause oil to collect in the lowpoint of theOEM
systemand starve the compressor of lubrication. All vehicles equippedwith theOEMAuxiliary
Heat andAir ConditioningPreparationPackage is tohavea completedauxiliary air conditioning
systemor haveaFord compressor fitting kit installed tomaintainadequate lubricant flow.
Provideadequateevaporator water drainage to vehicleexterior.
E0208
CLIMATECONTROLSYSTEMTUBESANDHOSES
Installers of climate control systems shouldadhere to the followingplumbing criterion:
NEVER securehoses or tubes to the transmission fill or dip stick or toany fuel systemor brake
component.
E0209
UseonlyNomex reinforcedEPDMheater hose (Ford specificationWSE-M96D34-A2).
Useonlywormgear hose clamps onheater hoses. UseonlyOEMequivalent ormetallic “T” or
“Y” hose fittings
E0210
Donot routehoses near sharpedges. Utilizeedgeguards toprotect against cuttingor
chafing.
