Rubber withnylonbarrier type refrigerant hose, similar toGoodyear 4850, is recommended
tominimizepermeationandmoisture intrusion into theair conditioning system. This hose,
used in1992and subsequent Fordmodelsmay
NOT
be cut and clampedover barbed
fittings. Useonly swaged, permanent fittings on this typehose.
•
Secureall hoseswith rubber coatedmetal retention clips. Plastic tiesmay beused tobundle
hoses, but shouldnot beused to securehoses to the vehicle.
•
Donot routeheater or refrigerant lines near or directly over any exhaust system component,
including theexhaustmanifolds.
•
Avoid routinghoses in thewheel houseor stone kick-upareas. Stone shields shall beused if
routinghere is necessary.
•
Minimize theuseof concentric protective hose shieldingand limit the length to12-inch
segments.
•
Consider engine roll, body to framemovements, and component requiredoperating zones
whenestablishingheater and refrigerant line routing.
•
Routehoses and tubes outside the framewhenever possible; avoidheat concentration
areas.
•
Establishaquality control method to inspect and resolve leaks, kinks, inadequate clearance
issues, and total systemoperations.
•
DONOTADDSHUT-OFFVALVES
or flow restrictions to theOEMheater hoses.

CLIMATECONTROLELECTRICAL
Installers of climate control systems should adhere to the followingelectrical criterion:
•
All control anddisplay illumination critical to vehicleoperationmust complywith
FMVSS101,
Control Location, Identificationand Illumination
, inCanada,
CMVSS101
.
•
E-Series equippedwith theFordauxiliary blower switchmust haveanelectrical relay to
activate theblowermotor at highblower speeds. Refer to
QVMBulletinQ-19, E-Series
AuxiliaryHeater andAirConditioningConnectionPreparationPackage
.
E0212
Auxiliary switches and controls addedby the final stagemanufacturer shouldbe function labeled
and illuminated for operator convenience.

WHEELSANDTIRES –Also see IndustryUniqueSection
E0301
Changing tires from theoriginal OEM tires is not recommended. Changingbrand, specifications,
or tread typemay adversely affect stoppingdistanceandC/FMVSS certification, tirewear
characteristics, andnoise vibrationandharshness (NVH) quality. If theOEM tires are changed,
thenew tirebrand, specifications, and serial numbersmust be retainedon filewith the final stage
manufacturer. Thenew tire sizeand load ratingmust be the sameas theOEM tire. If theOEM
tires aredismounted, they shouldbe remounted in their sameorientation relative to the valve
stem tominimizeany imbalance (i.e.,maintain the factorymatchmount). Builder is responsible
for prove-out of any tires it puts on the vehicle!!
E0302
Wheel changesmust complywith corporatepolicy. SeeAppendixXII
E0303
It is recommended that theOEM supplied tires andwheels shouldnot be changed. Inaddition to
potential C/FMVSS certification issues, significant vehiclewarranty and customer satisfaction
issuesmay occur if theOEM tires and/or wheels are changed.
