208 NOTE
An RCM (crash sensor and restraints control module)
is located under the driver's seat. Care must be used
to avoid damage to the RCM and sensor wiring during
removal or reinstallation of the driver's seat. Refer to
FigureE onpage 33.
208 Thestatementsbelowareapplicable to the incomplete
E-SeriesWagonandVanwhenequippedwith trimmed
front seats option if the GVWR is 3856 kg [8,500 lb]
or less and the Unloaded VehicleWeight, when
completed, is2495kg [5,500 lb] or less:
This vehicle, when completed, will conform toStandard
208, Occupant CrashProtection, if:
• TheUnloadedVehicleWeight exceeds2166kg [4775
lb] for theE150 and 2268 kg [5000 lb] for theE250.
• The steering column, steering intermediate and
couplingshaft, steeringwheel, steeringgear, steering
linkage, relatedstructural components, andattaching
hardware, as installed by Ford Motor Company, are
not removed, relocated, altered, or modified in any
way.
• No components are addedwhich could influence the
rearwarddisplacement of the steering column.
• The seat belt components installed by Ford Motor
Companyarenot removed, relocated,oraltered. If the
seatbelt componentsare temporarily removed forany
reason, theymust be reinstalled to the specifications
as shown inFigureA on page 30.
• Front seats that have been removed for final
manufacture are reinstalled to the specifications as
shown inFigureB on page 31.
• The seat belt warning system, as originally installed,
is not removed, replaced, modified, or altered in
anyway.
• Window or roof modifications do not exceed the
defined cut out areas shown in the Figures G1, G2
andG3 on pages 34, 35, and 36.
• No compressible material is installed between front
seat assembly and the floor pan.
• Noadditional components ormodifications aremade
to theareasdefinedat theOccupant ProtectionZone
shown inFigureDon page 32.
• The Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System as
originally installed (see Figure E on page 33), is
not removed, relocated, altered, or modified in any
way.
• The Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System
Information Labels that are affixed to the front sun
visors are visible, and not altered, modified, or
removed. If the Air Bag Supplemental Restraint
System Information Labels are not affixed to the
front visors but shipped in dunnage, the following is
necessary tomeet Standard 208:
– The information label must be permanently affixed
to each visor in an upright position readable from
the driver’s or passenger’s seating position.
– If the label is not visible when the visor is stored
(upposition), anAirBagAlert Label shall beplaced
on the visible surface of the visor as specified in
Section 4.5.1(c) of Standard 208.
• No alteration or modifications are made to the
body, chassis (including front bumper), drivetrain,
body mounts, or front suspension from the B-pillar
forward.
• Any front overheadconsole installedonan Incomplete
E-Series is configuredas follows:
– Front header (full width) overhead consoles may
extend down nomore than 2 inches asmeasured
from the Ford installed headliner
and extend
rearwardnomore than6 inchesasmeasured from
the midpoint between the Ford installed sun visor
inboard retaining clips (vehicle centerline).
– Center roof mounted consoles may extend down
nomore than 3 inches asmeasured from theFord
installedheadliner
andwidth is limited to8 inches
(4 inches either sideof the vehicle centerline).
– All overhead consoles are designed and
manufactured to provide friendly surfaces on all
sides and edges which could be contacted by an
occupant.
Any seat belt assemblies added to a vehiclemust con-
form to theapplicable requirements of thisStandard.

anyway.
• The completed front seats are within the Seating
Reference Point specifications in Figure C on page
32.
• Window or roof modifications do not exceed the
defined cut out areas shown in the Figures G1, G2
andG3 on pages 34, 35, and 36.
• No compressible material is installed between front
seat assembly and the floor pan.
