Elevated Idle
"Theenginehas a cold temperature high idle feature
which elevates theengine idle speed from base to idle to
1200 rpmswhen outside temperatures arebelowOOC
and the engine coolant temperature is below 65°C. This
featureenhances heater performanceby raising the
engine coolant temperature faster."
2-11 Fuel OperatedHeater (FOH)
“”...theFOHwill enhanceheater performanceandwill
reduce theamount of time it takes towarm the insideof
your vehicle in cold conditions belowor equal to4°C.
TheFOH is installed in the frame rail on the driver's side
of the vehicle and uses diesel fuel toheat the engine
coolant, which finallywarms up to passenger's cabin.
TheFOHwill turn on if all of the following conditions
exist:
*Outsideair temperature is belowor equal to4°C *Fuel
level is greater or equal to 12.5 percent of the total fuel
tank volume
*Theengine is running
*Coolant temperature is less than 75°C
2-13 Diesel ParticulateFilter (DPF)
“”…(the) vehiclehas aDiesel ParticulateFilter (DPF) as
part of the exhaust system to reduce vehicle emissions.
TheDPF requires a unique exhaust tailpipewithan
exhaust cooler. Theexhaust coolermixes air with the
exhaust at the tailpipe. This lowers theexhaust
temperaturebefore it leaves the tailpipe.

TheDPFwill regenerate (self-clean) itself as part of
normal operation. TheEngineControl Module (ECM)
controls this functionbased on several factors including
theamount of fuel consumed, hours of engineoperation
and kilometres driven. Onaverage, theDPFwill clean
itself about onceper tank of fuel.
Notice: Extended idle shouldbeavoidedbecause
theDPF system isnot capableof regenerating at
idle. During extended idle, besure towatch for the
DPFwarning light/messagewhich could comeon to
indicate that theDPF isbecoming full andneeds

MANUALNOWmessageappears in theDIC, theDPF
needs tobe cleaned.
To clean the filter, drive the vehicleabove50km/huntil
thewarningmessagegoes off. Thiswill takeabout 20
minutes.
