2-20 RetainedAccessory
Audio system canbeused for up to10minutes

2-20 Starting /Cranking theEngine
Computer-ControlledCrankingSystem: "If the ignition
key is turned to theSTART position, and then released
when the enginebegins cranking, the enginewill
continue cranking for a few seconds or until the vehicle
starts. If theenginedoes not start and the key is held in
START formany seconds, crankingwill be stopped after
15 seconds toprevent crankingmotor damage. To
prevent gear damage, this system alsoprevents
cranking if theengine is already running. Engine
cranking canbe stopped by turning the ignition switch to
theACC/ACCESSORYor LOCK/OFF position."

2-28 TorqueLock
Toprevent "torque lock" (when the vehiclehas been
parkedona hill and not shifted correctly / completely into
PARKand it is thendifficult to shift out of PARK) -Set the
parkingbrake first and then shift intoPARK.
"When youare ready todrive,move the shift lever out of
PARKbefore you release theparkingbrake."
2-29 ShiftingOut of PARK
"The shift lock control system is designed todo the
following:
* Prevent the ignition key from being removed unless the
shift lever is inPARK
* Preventmovement of the shift lever out of PARK,
unless the ignition is inON/RUN and the regular brake
pedal is applied"
"If you are still unable to shift out of PARK:
*Ease the pressureon the shift lever
*Whileholdingdown the brakepedal, push the
shift lever all theway intoPARK (the "full" PARK
