7ACorrosionProtection Any lap joint or seamedarea shouldbe treatedwith aquality caulk from both sides andall
edges toprevent not onlywatermaterial from entering the joint, but also fromhumidity,
Use rubber/plastic gaskets onALL door handles'&any other bolt on parts
Allow to cure for 5-10days before applying reflective tape
Install dielectric tapebetweenall stainless steel hinges
Pre-drill
as
manymountingholesbefore entering thepaintingprocess.
All accessory that requires a hole drilled formountingafter the unit has been painted,
must
have theapplication of a compound (Loctite, Eck, etc) appliedon all mounting
screws.
All bolt on parts (doors, etc.)must have anapplication of a compound (Loctite, Eck, etc.)
applied to themounting screws.
On all bolt on parts (doors) whenwiring a light, power lock, power window, etc, usea
groundwire back to thebody, not to thedoor.
Apply 3Mdouble face adhesive tapebetween all diamond plate aluminum panels and the
finishedpainted body. Make sure that there is adrain hole for proper drainaqe.
7BMaterial Pot life
Any product that uses a catalyst or hardener to complete the curing process has a pot life.
As previously stated, apot life is defined as "When aproduct doubles inViscosity”.
When this happens the product must NOTbe applied, but disposed of in the correct
manner.
Remember the 15 degree rulewhich states that every 15 degree shift from70°Feffects
pot life.
Example:'
A primer has a 2hour pot life at 70°F, At 85°F thepot life becomes 1
hour. At 100°F thepot life has become1/2 hour, That same2hour pot lifebecomes 4
hours at 55°F.
7CMaterial FilmBuild
Filmbuilds that are too low causeadhesion and corrosion concerns, Film builds that are
greater than recommendations can cause solvent entrapment, cracking, loss of gloss and
adhesion.
7DSafety Information
IMPORTANT: The above solvents andpaint components containmaterials thatmay be
hazardous to your health.
Read and be sure that you understand thewarningmessages on the labels of all
components.
Follow instructions for positiveairline respirator andany other respirator neededduring
the use of theproducts.
Wear eye and skin protection. Observe all applicable precautions.
