newer, significant modifications will be required to make the old pads/cushions work in the
newchassis. We recommend that newcomponentsbepurchased if this is thecase.
Also remove the frontwalk throughexit pad.
Remove thebucket seats.
Remove the driver console. Once again, if this is a 1991 or older Ford chassis, it is
recommended that a new console be purchased due to the change in design of the engine
cover. A skilled craftsmanmay be able tomodify the existing console but results are far from
predictable.
Remove the patient compartment side plasticwall coverings so that all cab to body bolts are
visible. Remove these bolts. Although this manual is intended as a guide only, we do
recommend that you remove the cab to body bolts prior to loosening or removing the chassis
to body bolts as there may be some twisting forces when the chassis to body bolts are
removed.
Once the cab to body bolts have been removed, remove the body to chassismounting bolts.
Typically, thereareeight bolts to remove.
Using a ten-point hoist, slowly raise themodular boxwhile keeping a close eye to ensure that
all possiblecomponentshavebeensuitablydisconnectedor removed.
Please note that the front lift points could use spacers to tip the box to the rear during
removal. This may help in maintaining adequate clearances between the box and the cab
during the lift sequence. DO NOT allow the cab to body seal to ride the front wall of the
modular boxas thismaydamage the finishon the front of thebox.
Driveor push thechassisout fromunderneath thebody.
And finally, inspect all components that have been removed and are planned for use on the
next chassis (especially theelectrical harnesses) and replaceasnecessary.
4.0 OLDCHASSISPREPARATION
The following recommendations are based on the premise that there is an absence of
established rules concerning the customers requirements for the old chassis. Ensure that the
followingcommentsdonot contraveneexisting rulesand regulations for thepreparationof the
oldchassis.
