OxygenSystem
Theoxygen system inyour new ambulance consists of the following:
OxygenOutlet (s)
Yournewambulancehasbeenequippedwithoxygenoutlet(s) located in theMCC. If thevehiclehas
a dual stretcher, theremay be an outlet on the passenger side, near the side entry/exit door. Please
refer to theO.E.M. sectionof thismanual concerning the care anduse of the individual components
of theoxygenoutlets.
OxygenLines
All oxygen lines in your ambulance consist of 1/4" nylon P.V.C. hose rated at 300 P.S.I. A service
loop is provided for thewall outlets and the tank regulator.
OxygenTankRetention
The retention assembly ismounted in the oxygen compartment. The bracket has been designed to
accommodate one of the followingmedical oxygen tanks: "M" steel, "M" aluminium, “H/K” steel,
and “H/K” aluminium. To ensure the safe storage of the tank, the retentionbrackets and/or belts that
secure the tankmust beused at all times.
How toChange theMainOxygenTank
Themainoxygen tank is located in the front right hand corner of theboxof the ambulance.
Note: If you have an “O2 to Go” Oxygen cart system, follow the instruction on the oxygen
compartment door insteadof the following.
1.
Remove the regulator.
2.
Remove the fourwing screws on the retentionbracket(s) surrounding the tank.
3.
Slide the top bracket over the valve and re-install one of thewing screws to keep the head
assembly above the tank.
4.
Remove the two retaining belts (or lower bracket onNewEraXCmodel) that secure the
lower portionof the tank.
5.
Remove theoxygen tankby sliding it out of the compartment.
6.
Install thenew tank.
7.
Reattach thebelts (or lower bracket onNewEraXCmodel) around the tank.
8.
Slide the retentionbracket over thevalve.
9.
Put the fourwing screwsback into the lowest holespossiblewhilepressing firmlydownon
thebracket. Put all four of thewing screws in looselybefore tightening.
If youvehicle is aFleetMaxorCommandermodel, the portable oxygen tanks are stored in the
front right corner cabinet. They are only accessible from inside of the vehicle.
